Akpabio: What happened at INEC office on Tuesday
The legal team of Senator Godswill Akpabio (APC – Akwa Ibom Northwest) finally inspected the election material used during the last elections.
On Tuesday, the Akpabio team of lawyers, led by Patrick Umoh, was at the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
Umoh had accused INEC of preventing them from accessing and inspecting the materials.
But the INEC responded to the fire and called it a liar.
Attorney Ekom Nwoko, one of the lawyers representing the PDP in the Court, was present at the INEC office.
Nwoko revealed that the PDP is the first respondent, Dr. Christopher Ekpenyong presented a motion to the Court to annul certain observations granted to the Court, in particular the forensic examination of the electoral material.
Nwoko said: “Our motion is based on article 151 of the electoral law and the inspection of the electoral materials does not cover the forensic examination of the materials.
“This is the premise of our motion, and probably the proposal will be presented next week, but we still do not have an appointment.”
Speaking, the INEC public affairs official, Akwa Ibom, Don Etukudo, told The Nation: “The APC legal team started the process of inspecting the election materials when we took them to the hall and saw the materials
“What the APC legal team was able to do today is to get the election material out of the ten areas of local government, and tomorrow, Wednesday, the actual inspection of the materials will begin, starting from the government areas, Abak Local, Etim Ekpo Ika. “
