The presidential electoral tribunal that met in Abuja on Wednesday submitted a request submitted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which seeks to cancel the request of the Popular Democratic Party, PDP, and its presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar , for not joining the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo.
The Court declared that the INEC’s appeal was incompetent, since not including the Vice President cannot make Atiku’s request incompetent.
As a result, the decision on the main issue will continue.
The tension is already well ahead of the presidential court, which is now destined to rule on the request of Atiku and PDP seeking to disqualify President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the last presidential elections.
A presidential delegation led by Buhari’s chief of staff, Abba Kyari, is already sitting in the courtroom.
Some of them are the governor of the state of the highlands, Simon Lalong, minister of justice and attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami, national president of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, ministers of works and housing, Raji Fashola, minister of labor and occupation, Chris Ngige, Minister of State, Delta of the Niger, Festus Kayamo, among others.
Atiku and PDP are the signatories of the petition, while President Muhammadu Buhari, the congress held by Progressive and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, are interviewed.
