President Muhammadu Buhari met on Wednesday in Abuja behind closed doors with members of the newly established Economic Advisory Council (EAC).
The EAC, established on September 16th, replaced the Economic Management Team (EMT), led by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.
The functions of EAC, chaired by Professor Doyin Salami, include tax analysis, economic growth and a variety of internal and global economic problems that work with cabinet members and heads of competent monetary and fiscal agencies.
“The EAC will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President.
“The Chairman may, however, request for unscheduled meetings if the need arises,’’ an earlier statement by presidential aide, Femi Adesina said.
Members of the EAC are Dr. Mohammed Sagagi – Vice-Chairman; Prof. Ode Ojowu – Member; Dr. Shehu Yahaya – Member; Dr. Iyabo Masha – Member.
Others are Prof. Chukwuma Soludo – Member; Mr. Bismark Rewane – Member; Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu – Secretary (Senior Special Assistant to the President, Development Policy)
