Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the completion of the supplementary poll.
In a new petition presented to the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu on Wednesday, Melaye called for the omitted areas previously highlighted in the exercise to be included.
However, the request was received by Jafaru Leko on behalf of the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yukubu.
Melaye will do it on Saturday with Smart Adeyemi of All Progressive Congress, APC, after the cancellation of the November 16th elections.
The INEC had scheduled a repetition due to non-repeated senatorial elections and a repeat of the poll of the House of Representatives of the federal district of Ajaokuta, for Saturday.
However, the dismissed legislator stated that the data published by the Commission for the completion of the complementary elections did not reflect the total number of units affected by negligence and generalized irregularities.
The petition reads in part, “The re-run notice issued by INEC covering the entire seven local government areas in Kogi West Senatorial District as well as the details contained in this petition, further amplify the pervasiveness of malpractices and irregularities that marred the conduct of November 16, 2019 election.
“However, in order to partially remedy this fundamental flaw, I request for the inclusion of the omitted areas earlier highlighted in the supplementary poll.
“The most charitable conclusion is that INEC failed to exercise the requisite diligence before rolling out the details of the proposed supplementary election.”
Recall that security operatives had earlier prevented Melaye from gaining access into the Commission’s premises in Abuja.
