The Edo State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC), the ruling party of Nigeria, suspended its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
Latest Nigeria News reports that Oshiomhole, Edo state former governor, was suspended on Tuesday night for his role in the crisis that shook the state’s party chapter.
This online news platform understands that the decision to suspend Oshiomhole followed the no-confidence vote broadcast by APC Chairmen in the 18 Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo state.
Latestalertt reports that the suspension of Oshiomhole was contained in a statement signed by Edo APC Chairman, Anselm Ojezua, and Assistant State Secretary, Ikuenobe Anthony.
The statement reads in part: “Consequent on the development, the State Executive Committee has adopted the vote of no confidence passed on him and the subsisting suspension order from the organs of the party in the state.”
Ojezua and the Assistant Secretary of Edo APC stated that the decision was necessary to avoid repeating what happened in the state of Zamfara, where the party could not present any candidate in the elections.
“Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is the one behind the crisis in Edo APC. We have passed a vote of no confidence on him and he stands suspended from the party.
“We don’t want what happened in Zamfara State or other parts of the country to happen in Edo State,” the statement added.
