The Senate began holding elections for the position of Deputy Senate President between senators Ike Ekweremadu and Ovie Omo-Agege.
The duo, however, belongs to the opposition and mainstream political parties in the upper house.
Accepting his appointment, Ekweremadu reminded his colleagues of the sad event in which the sacred chamber and, in fact, the Senate bat was invaded and raped not long ago.
However, this insinuation cannot be foreign to the claim that Omo-Agege was behind the glorious attack.
Both Ekweremadu and Omo-Agege represent the senatorial districts of Enugu West and Central Delta respectively.
The outcome of the elections can be shocking considering the fact that while Omo-Agege was the APC’s preferred candidate in power, Ekweremadu is a leading lawmaker with much legislative experience from the Popular Democratic Party, PDP.
