Falz reveal why he stopped attending church
Weeks after announcing the second edition of their main concert, The Falz Experience, a very talented Nigerian artist, Falz revealed why he stopped going to church.
“The reason is that I went to some churches and, during the sermons, I was put under undue pressure. There was a time when a pastor called me to the altar just to recognize my presence to be in the church” the singer explained.
“In my mind, I felt that the service was not about me. I felt that everyone was there to worship God, yet they exerted undue pressure on me. The pastor gave me the microphone to speak to the congregation and I was perplexed; did you expect me to tell the congregation?
The singer said this during an interview with Silverbird Television Thursday in Lagos.
During the interview, Falz, 28, also said that he appreciates the spirituality of religion and does not make it less Christian.
“I have nothing against the church or going to church. Everyone has the right to practice the religion they want. It’s been a while since I’ve been to church. It doesn’t make me less Christian.”
Reacting to the criticism that followed the release of his album Moral Instruction, published in January, he said he was ready for reactions from the beginning.
He said: “My songs will always be heard, the world is much smaller now, you just need a publication and it is everywhere, regardless of the attempts of the powers to try to stop things here and there.
“If you’re doing this kind of music, you always have to be prepared for the worst. Of course,” This is Nigeria “has been banned. We’re still in court. But I have my fundamental rights, so you really can’t stop that, to regardless of the body you are. ”
Speaking of his concert to be held on Sunday at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, he explained that the “Falz Experience” would show the unique sides of Falz, the Bahdian man, but this time with a twist.
Falz came to light after his song “Marry Me” (with the voice of Poe and Yemi Alade) earned him a nomination for “Best Collaboration of the Year” in 2015 the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
In 2018, Falz released a controversial audio / visual song “This Is Nigeria”, a model by American rapper Childish Gambino “This Is America”.
He addressed the social problems that prevail in Nigeria, including the brutality of SARS, the abuse of codeine and the killings in some parts of the country.
The video of the song highlights the nation’s problems, in particular violence and corruption in politics, the police and religious fanaticism.
The song, however, was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
