The spokesman of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, created a nine-member committee to review the controversial regulation of the Eighth Chamber.
The House Rules Review Committee, which is headed by the Hon. Professor Julius Ihonvbere and a mixture of old and new members, had three weeks to complete his task.
The term of reference for the committee is a complete revision of the house rules, with emphasis on the controversial aspects that had been confronted with members in the past.
The committee must align the house rules to conform to the best global legislative practices.
Remember that the eighth house had been involved in a discussion of some aspects of the House regulation, which allowed the then president, Yakubu Dogara, to indefinitely suspend every member who “think” one walks towards the Maza misconduct.
The Hon. Aliyu Madaki (APC Kano) with 10 other people had turned to the court, urging him to declare the House Rules void, without effect and without effect.
According to them, the new house rules were draconian.
It has been said that the existence of the committee was covered to allow its members to work without pressure and other impediments.
