ICPC Set To Probe 8th National Assembly Lawmakers Over Constituency Projects

Doomsday seems closer to Nigerian legislators, as the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and other related crimes (ICPC) is willing to study electoral projects made in Benue’s condition and in eleven other federation states.

Naija News understands that the initiative launched by ICPC on 2 April 2019, aims to ensure the effective implementation of all constituency projects as well as to obtain good value.

At least five projects were selected between 2016 and 2018 in each of the 12 states distributed in the six geopolitical zones for the year, for a total of 86 projects to be monitored.

The members of the initiative’s steering committee included the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Detectors (NIQS), the Federation Budget Office and the Office of the Federation General Accountant.

Other members are, among others, Premium Times, International Center for Research Reports (ICIR).

According to Okoduwa, the first phase of the exercise will start in 12 states of the six geopolitical zones of the country.

“At least five projects have been identified for tracking in each state.

“The zones and states include North Central; Kogi and Benue, Northeast, Adamawa and Bauchi while others are Northwest, Sokoto and Kano.

“Southeast has Imo and Enugu, Southwest, Lagos and Osun; South-South, Akwa Ibom and Edo.”
