The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said Saturday the candidate for governor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bello Matawalle, winner of the election for the governor of Zamfara.
INEC President, Mahmood Yakubu, announced during a press conference monitored by the Daily Post in Abuja on Saturday.
According to Yakubu, the PDP won in all the state’s elected offices.
This occurs after the APC ruling on Friday lost its attempt to rule the state of Zamfara over the next four years, since the Supreme Court ruled that it has no candidate for the 2019 general election.
In addition, the apex court validated the Sokoto Division Court of Appeal ruling, which issued the verdict that the APC had no valid primaries in the state of Zamfara.
In addition, the Supreme Court in a unanimous ruling of a seven-member panel decided that it cannot be said that a party that did not have a valid candidate has the winner of the recently held general election.
In an appeal filed by the APC, the court of first instance ruled against the appellant and ordered a fine of N10 million against the APC.
With further development, the PDP now has full state control with the governor, three senators, seven members of the House of Representatives and 24 members of the House of Assembly.
