An agent of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2019 presidential election accused the of All Progressives Congress (APC) of using the attacks in the city of Damboa, in the state of Borno, to manipulate the elections.
Bukar Bukar Petrol, the PDP agent, accused as he spoke as a witness before the Court of petitions in the presidential election in Abuja on Thursday.
Petrol appeared as the twenty-seventh witness of the PDP and his candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who challenges the electoral victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC in the presidential elections of February 23rd.
He said the 100 voting units in the 10 rooms of Damboa’s Local Government Area were on the premises of the Local Government Secretariat in the city of Damboa.
Petrol also accused officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in charge of the area of deliberately delaying the distribution of sensitive electoral materials in the local government area until around 8 am, forcing the elections to start approximately 10 am
The agent said that the attacks in the area on election day forced voters to run for safety and allowed APC to manipulate the numbers.
In his words, “When the explosions occurred, everyone fled. After the explosions, the civilian JTF took the election and the 3rd respondent (APC) took advantage of the situation to manipulate the elections.”
The gasoline told the court that he had reported the incident to the Division police officer, military intelligence, the Criminal Investigation Bureau, the military police, the head of the National Orientance Agency and his party, the PDP. INEC.
