Manchester City’s new signing, Joao Cancelo has revealed how fellow Portuguese, Bernardo Silva, convinced him to join the club from Juventus.
Cancelo, who will wear the No. 27 shirt at Man City, said he decided to join the Premier League champions after Silva told him that the Etihad club is an amazing club with a great atmosphere.
The 25-year-old right-back became Pep Guardiola’s third signing of the summer on Wednesday following the respective arrivals of Rodri and Angelino from Atletico Madrid and PSV Eindhoven.
Cancelo told Man City’s official website: “We’ve spoken about it a few times, not regularly but occasionally.
“Bernardo Silva told me that it is an amazing club and the atmosphere is great. That’s also one of the reasons why I’ve decided to come.”
Cancelo added: “He is a player I admire a lot.
“If I remember rightly, Bernardo and I played in the same team for around eight years.
“We were together at Benfica, so we were together for a while. It will help me and I’m very excited to play with him.”
