JUST IN: Atiku’s petition mere waste of time – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made its final presentations at the request of Atiku Abubakar and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and asked the court to reject the petition.

The INEC lawyer, Yunus Usman (SAN), while adopting the final addresses of his clients in front of the presidential petitions court (PEPC) on Wednesday, denied the claim that the INEC has a server, which he sent the results electronically and abandoned their accusations by not calling any witnesses.

Usman claimed that the petition was a simple waste of time in court because they made accusations that they could not justify.

Usman said: “This is a worthless petition. INEC did not abandon its pleadings. It only extracted salient evidence from their (petitioners) witnesses.

“It would have been a waste of the court’s time to call witnesses when the petitioners failed to prove anything and admitted the issues we advanced in our pleadings

“We urge the court to dismiss this petition, which was meant to test the water with two legs, and they are now falling.”
