The governor-elect of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has promised to pay graduates to be employed by the rapidly approaching government, as drivers of Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, between N80,000 and 100,000 monthly.
Sanwo-Olu explained that hiring graduates would help the state government get rid of BRT’s reckless pilots.
The governor-elect, who made the revelation over the weekend in the Ikoyi state area during an interactive session with his classmates in the Executive Master class of Business Administration, University of Lagos, 1998/2000, noted that hiring graduates as BRT drivers it would add more dignity to the profession.
According to Sanwo-Olu: “The problem of the BRT is something that has to do with culture. When we take control, by the grace of God, we will publicize and see if we can use some of our graduates as drivers .
“What I understand is that apart from the money we pay them, which is more than an average degree pay, we have to tell our people very quickly and encourage ourselves that there is dignity at work. We will pay (included) between N80, 000 and N100,000 to come and drive these buses because we expect much more decency.
“For the time being we have the right culture of the driver, paths that approach when Abule Egba-ending the route / Iyana Ipaja / Ikeja will increase the number of BRT (Bus)”.
