On Tuesday, A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna ordered the preventive detention of a 30-year-old worker, Inuwa Yunusa, for alleged murder.
The magistrate, Umar Ibrahim, who did not accept the accused’s accusations, ordered to be deferred pending legal advice from the director of the Kaduna Public Prosecutor’s Office (DPP).
Ibrahim postponed the case until January 14, 2020, for further mention, reports NAN.
Yunusa, who resides in the local government area of Kauru, in the state of Kaduna, is tried for criminal conspiracy and unjust death.
The prosecutor, isp. Chidi Leo told the court that the case was transferred from the headquarters of the Kauru state division to the department of criminal investigation and intelligence (IDRC) on 12 November.
Leo said about 14:00 the same day, the defendant and two others now in general had a misunderstanding with an Adamu Dogo, who caused physical combat.
The prosecutor said that during the clash the defendant and his friends used a wooden log and hit Dogo in the head and collapsed.
Leo added that when the victim collapsed, the defendant and his friends stopped before being transferred to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The prosecutor said the crimes violated sections 59 and 190 of the penal code of the state of Kaduna, 2017.
