National Assembly set for 2020 budget presentation

All is set at the National Assembly for President Muhammadu Buhari to present the year 2020 appropriation bill.

The president will present the bill of appropriations before a joint session of the National Assembly.

Security is strengthened in the National Assembly Complex in anticipation of the president’s arrival with journalists and the workers of the complex are examined before entering the premises.

The presentation of the budget is scheduled for 14:00 and will be held in the chamber of the House of Representatives.

The senators should move to the green room for the joint session.

President Buhari and members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had previously held an extraordinary meeting at the State House in Abuja on Monday.

The council members at the meeting touched the fiscal document to tighten the outstanding issues before the final presentation to the legislators.

This will be the first time that the new leaders of the two chambers of the National Assembly, Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila, will receive the president in parliament.

Lawan and Gbajabiamila were elected President of the Senate and President of the House of Representatives in June.
