Senator Borno, Ali Ndume, accepted the result of the election of the Senate Presidency on Tuesday in the Senate.
Ahmed Lawan won the chair of the ninth senate president with 79 votes for Ndume, who won 28 votes.
Ndume, after the votes were counted, shook hands with Ahmed Lawan and congratulated him on the applause of other legislators.
After a secret vote, the secretary of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori, announced Lawan’s victory before the joy of the senators and others in the chamber.
“It is my pleasure to announce that Senator-elect, Ahmed Lawan, having scored the highest number of total votes cast is hereby returned duly elected as Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
