Democratic People’s Party, PDP, in the state of Akwa Ibom, described as a shameful and dishonorable statement by Senator Godswill Akpabio who never deserted, but moved to the Congress of all progressives following his expulsion from the PDP neighborhood level.

Senator Godswill Akpabio had reported with evidence to the Abuja Federal High Court that his expulsion from the PDP was what forced him to move to the APC in August 2018.

In his ruling, the trial judge, Judge Okon Abang, said on Friday that the Senator only “moved to join APC by frustration of being expelled from the PDP through a letter dated August 2, 2018”.

The judge considered that having been expelled from the PDP, Akpabio was free to join another political party of their choice and any attempt to declare that his position was vacant as requested by the appellant, the defense project and legal collaborator would be to punish him for exercising his right. freedom of association under Article 40 of the Constitution.

The applicant had anchored the claim to section 68 (1) (g) of the Constitution, which provides that the seat of a legislator who exceeds his part without any split in the party before the end of the possession of which the sponsor party The election of legislator will be declared vacant.

Judge Abang considered that the provision of article 68 (1) (g) of the Constitution does not apply to Akpabio, which “defected or did not change”, but only moved the PDP after its expulsion.
Angry at Senator Akpabio’s communications, the PDP in the state said that this claim was totally false and shameful.

In a statement signed by the secretary of advertising, Ini Emembong and sent to journalists in Uyo, the PDP argued that it was impossible for Senator Akpabio had been expelled from the party, without the approval of the party’s State Executive Committee.

Ememobong argued that there were no records demonstrating the existence of such a punitive move against the senator by his ward or chapter leader.

He also said that Senator Akpabio conspired with Ntiedo Usoro, then president of Essien Udim’s Chapter to write a deportation letter and a later date illegally, adding that Ntiedo completed his mission, then deserted and joined the Akpabio Chief in APC .

The statement reads in part: “The state chapter of Pd Akwa Ibom People read a story derived from a federal court ruling in Abuja, presided over by Judge Abang, in which the trial judge held that Senator Akpabio led the evidence to show that he was expelled from the Popular Democratic Party and, therefore, was justified by law in “moving” to the APC.

“We affirm that nothing can be further from the truth than the transparent lie of the shameless expulsion of the head of Akpabio. We have the courage to say that at no time was Chief Akpabio suspended or expelled from the party. Chief Akpabio had announced to the world on 8 August 1818 which defected from the PDP to APC in search of national interest and to stem the tide of defections in the National Assembly. In fact, in several campaigns, it mocked the PDP for having been empty of its unusual desertion. At no time did it mention the issue of expulsion, which has now become his creation as a boring defense to keep his place. He conspired with Ntiedo Usoro, the then president of the Chapter of Essien Udim to illegally write him a letter of expulsion and the date of his return. that Ntiedo completed his mission, then deserted and joined the Akpabio chief at the APC.

“There is no way that Senator Akpabio has been expelled from the party, without the consent of the executive committee of the party state. There is no documentation proving the existence of a punitive measure taken against the senator by his executive council neighborhood or chapter. Expulsion is a process and not an event We know that the disgraced senator is running away from their shadows and questioning karma, because his conscience is remembering as raised the suspension and possible expulsion of his predecessor, Obong Victor Attah Party (even if the act was reversed the National Excoe the party.) His successor, Governor Udom Emmanuel and leader of the incumbent party under Obong Paul Ekpo, are definitely not available for karma to be used against he.

“We have warned Senator Akpabio to immediately cease to include the PDP in his serial lies. It is a story for us, for what matters to us and soon, it will be history for his Senate district, people who sent the disgraced senator at an obligatory political retirement.
