Three suspected kidnappers shot dead in Kogi state

A combined team of soldiers, police and local hunters killed three alleged kidnappers in Kogi state.

In confirmation of the murder of the three alleged kidnappers, the public relations officer of the state police command, ASP William Aya, in Lokoja, in the state of Kogi, said two others fled with gunshot wounds.

Aya said the kidnappers with five armed men kidnapped six people on September 11 between Iyamoye and the Ekinrinade highway in the local area of ​​the Ijumu state government. It is said that the kidnappers, who were masked, on that day kidnapped the chief Ganiyu Popoola, Elemoh Aran of Omu-Aran, his brother, Dr. Sule Popoola, his nephew, a woman and her husband, said they were doctors. doctor and an unidentified victim.

It was said that they traveled to Lokoja with their separate vehicles when they and another commercial bus encountered an obstacle mounted by the suspects. However, the commercial bus driver was able to quickly maneuver his vehicle and escaped with a windshield shattered by bullets towards Omuo-Oke, a border town between the states of Ekiti and Kogi.

The soldiers were said to bring the bodies of the kidnappers to the Iyara Division police station and deliver two rifles, an AK-47 and an action bomb to the police. In addition, Aya stated that a sum of N57.510 and five different phones were found.
