Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and democracy activist, was forbidden to speak at an event at Lagos University after pressure from the Nigerian government on the planned mass demonstrations that Sowore will conduct, journalists can confirm Sahara.

Sowore leads the nationwide protests against the Nigerian establishment with the label ‘#RevolutionNow Days of Rage’ scheduled for August 5, 2019.

The Society of Muslim Students of Nigeria, a UNILAG subsidiary, had invited Sowore as a guest speaker for an academic consulting seminar to be held on 3 July 2019 at the J.F Ade Ajayi Auditorium.

He was, however, barred abruptly from speaking by the group on July 31, 2019, in a “regrettable correspondence” which SaharaReporters confirmed to be directly linked to orders form the federal government.
