Afenifere leader Reuben Fasoranti said he never knew that Friday would be the last day he would see his daughter, Funke Olakunrin, shot to death on the Benin-Ore highway.
Olakunrin, 58, was on his way to Lagos from Akure, the capital of the state of Ondo, when shepherds’ suspicions attacked his vehicle.
He said his driver made a U-turn in an attempt to escape, but the attackers attacked her and she died while going to the hospital.
Fasoranti, while receiving dignitaries in his residence in Akure, asked the federal government to verify the high crime rate in the country.
“She came to me around 9am on Friday to bid me farewell. I never thought I would not see her again.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has called to commiserate with me. But all I need from the president is to find solutions to these killings in the country,” he said.
